Along with the development of Indian music are the changes to classical Indian instruments. For a country retaining the good reputation for being among the oldest civilizations of the world, India can easily pride itself due to having an abundant and diverse musical history that has acquired worldwide standing.

Let us then be aware and give value not only of the modern instruments, but also to those instruments that started it all. Indian instruments should not only be stored and concealed; they need to be made known to the modern world so that individuals will grow to be aware of their real historical worth.

Gharana essentially means a school of thought, or a school of music, that follows a particular style perfected over the years by rigorous practice and enhanced by coming generations that combine contemporary styles and incorporate new ideas. Gharana literally means family tradition, members of a family of musicians establishing their own unique musical discipline consistently over three or more generations.

Indian carnatic music is very interesting and very systamatically arranged music. It is full of imaginations and creativity. An important aspect of the Indian culture is obviously the Indian music. You can't even imagine what important Indian music is to Hinduism. Music and dance has even a religious importance in Hinduism. In fact the beginning of the Indian music is based on religion. The first songs in Indian were in fact religious hymns and ballads. They were called "bhajans" and were based on religious facts, legends and myths. They used few musical instruments, such as the sitar or a table.

American Indian music is famous for its simple, yet amazing music. Unlike most modern music, American Indian music does not typically comprise of a wide variety of instruments. Many times, music is only performed with a flute and singing. Additional instruments can be used, but the flute is the most common instrument used in American Indian history. If an additional instrument is used it is likely a drum or a whistle.

The collaboration story of the Indian and western music is not very old to the Indian music. The fusion became a genre in the year 1955, when the sarod maestro Ali Akbar Khan performed with western musicians in the United States. During this era, various other legends including Ali Akbar Khan and Alla Rakha also worked with the western musicians.

Indian music has developed through very complex interactions between different people of different races and cultures over several thousand years. References to music in ancient texts, aesthetic formulations, and depictions and written discussions of musical instruments offer clues to the Indian music history. Indian classical music allows for a much greater degree of "personalization" of the performance.
